Mercruiser dealer meeting. The number one topic was water ingestion by the dealers. The number two topic was corrosion on bravo drives. The metting was held in Nashville Tenn. on Nov. 22-24. Mercruiser stated that most of the ingestion issues were engine installion. But Mercruiser has designed a new exhaust system for there engines. The new exhaust system is warm water design. The design is to help with water reversion. go figure. Tom

Tom,

Very interesting!

I think, personally, alot of this has to do with boat design. In particular, the European look. Just take a look at most of the boats today, while at rest, they are VERY stern heavy.

The European look design tends to hang sponsons and swim platforms, that are heavy, well beyond the true transom. That's OK to do if you increase the rear displacement by widening the boat. Few manufacturers have done that.

I can see why Merc. would redesign the exhaust system. The boat builders want to build these boats and they are the customer. Also, the warranty claims, legit. or not, are probably starting to climb.
