Mercruiser Aluminum Intake Question

My rebuilt 5.7 mercruiser intake manifold blew a hole during sea trials yesterday. My mistake for re-using the old intake, it looked fine. It blew a hole out one of the exhaust crossover ports.

I have an Aluminum Edlebrock Intake in my shop, it is not lined with brass, it is automotive. I would like to throw this on and get me through a season of boating. Replace it next year with a new intake. It is raw water cooled, and the engine stays on a mooring where it cannot be flushed. Will this aluminum intake survive the next 4 months?

My next question is- where can i find the correct adapter to use a 2 barrel mercarb with the new edlebrock intake designed for a 4 barrel carb? I’ve seen them out there

Thanks!

salt water? fresh water?

are you sure its the manifold and not a gasket? (I would check first)

if fresh water, then yes, the aluminum intake would work. however suggest epoxy lining the water jacket at a minimum. even fresh water corrodes aluminum.
if salt water, then no, it will disappear

as for the adapter, your local automotive supply shop, mercruiser, volvo, etc.

Thanks for the responses guys. See the attached picture. the plate over this exhaust crossover blew out and was shooting out exhaust. I would just replace the plate.. but the bolt holes are too far gone. It is raw water cooled, i guess i wont bother with the aluminum intake i have. I will buy a brass lined intake. Thanks!

that is the EGR cross-over, not used on boats.

get a helicoil kit for the bolt holes, get a new gasket, be boating in 20 minutes
