I have an '84 19.6 Wellcraft that has been rebuilt including a Generation 2 1.5 ratio outdrive and last year I installed a new Vortec 5.7L engine with a Edelbrock 600 cfm carb. We use the boat mainly for wake boarding and water skiing, but I'd like to have a decent top end as well. I have 2 props, an older mercury Quicksilver 14d 19p and a Solas 4 blade 14 1/4d 17p. My issue is that I'm only hitting 4000 rpm with the Quicksilver prop and 3900 with the Solas. It is also takes a while to get the boat on a plane. I'm thinking about an Enertia prop and went through Mercury's prop selector. two Enertia props were recommended, a 14.5d 17p and a 14.2d 18p. The Enertia props are pricey and I don't want to make a mistake. Any suggestions?

What speed are you making at 4,000 with the 19?
A 350 300 hp is rated at 5,200 rpm so you have 1200 rpm to make up thats about a 6" of pitch change putting you at about 13" sure seems extreme to me. I think you have other issues
Perhaps timing or the throttle setup. Perhaps the tach isn't accurate.

I hit 45 at 4000. I had the same thought about the tach and ordered a new one this morning.

The Enertia props really are not watersports props. You probably want something in 4 or 5 blades.

Spike I see he said carb and vortec I dont believe this engine is either 300hp or rated for 5200rpm

Ricksi you need to give more info on your setup and be very spacific
