Mercruiser Alpha One Problems

Just changed the gimbal bearing, bellows, and shift cable on my Alpha One. Got the boat on the water and it ran great for 30 minutes or so. Boat then started acting like it was bogged down upon take off. I would let off the throttle and give it some more and the problem would go away and return when taking off again. Also noticed a loss of power when turning. Took the boat out of the water and inspected the work done and found that the exhaust bellow had come off. Wondering if this would cause ventillation and lead to the loss of power?

If it were ventilation of the prop, the engine would rev-up rather than bog down. The exhaust bellow being loose would not effect anything. So, I would re-visit the installation of the gimbal bearing and the outdrive. Did you do an alignment check/adjustment after installing the new gimbal bearing?

If bogging down I would also think about fuel delivery. Are the fuel filters clean?

First of all, welcome.

Now, do you lower the drive down for takeoff? If it's a little raised the boat will go nose high and will plow.
Power loss when turning could be an alignment imperfection, true. Does it make any different sounds?
