1992 Bayliner cierra has 350 engine. Can not start- starter won't crank, slave solenoid just clicks. Batteries are charged, starter is getting 12 volts, but nothing turns. Noticed back of alternator is hot when ignition switch (key) is off! Anybody have same thing happen? Thanks for the feedback...

Unless you have a dual battery set up ( from factory) you will have 12 volt hot at all times on the alternator post.

Is your battery fully charged?
Are your wires corroded?

Hello, I might be wrong, but I think he means it feels hot to the touch. This should not be this way. Sounds like the alt is internally shorted. I would pull it off and have it tested at an auto electrical shop. Good luck!
