I have a chance to purchase a Campion Victoria 797 1999 for about $10,000 on an aluminum trailer. The engine looks pretty rough. Can anyone tell me what it is, how many horses, what speed I can expect from this boat with what prop? Can I get parts for this engine? Should I buy a spare stern drive. The trailer has got to be worth $5,000 alone.

can you get us a seriel number off the motor? it should be on a decal on the valve cover or flame arrestor cover. and on the side of the engine block just above the starter. in that warm tropical water if it was not freshwater cooled inspect the manifolds and risers carefully and be prepared to replace them pronto if they are more than 3 or 4 years old. the risers are always saltwater cooled and will last 3 to 4 years in the salt pond.

Thanks rodbolt. All I can see right now is drive and transom serial numbers<br /><br />Drive 1.62R OL119431<br />Transom OL207932<br /><br />It says Quicksilver 3000 Classic on the shift lever and 5.7 litre V-8 Thunderball V-Ignition on the front of the engine. Do you know how many horses on this engine?<br /><br />I will hve to replace all of the cables and shift lever due to corossion.

only way to tell is by the engine numbers. on the block near the bell housing just above the starter should be a metal tag rivited to the block.

The drive and transom shield assembly are both 1997 vintage, so I would guess your engine, if original is the same.<br />The 5.7L Alpha for that year was rated at 235 propshaft HP.<br />You still need to find the metal tag rodbolt told you about to be sure.<br />Hard to even say about speed of the boat. Lots of thing to take into consideration there. Length, Beam, weight, hull design...........
