Need the pinion nut specification for the alpha 1 gen 1 horizontal bearing cluster. Videos I have seen speak of rolling torque of 4-6 inch pounds and another video suggests 80 ft pounds...Big difference. Please help asap! I put new u joints and and broke the bearing assembly down for easier access to the u joints.

Thank you.

Slid ya' over to the Mercruiser section to see if we can get some answers. You may want to consider pulling your phone number and email off as those become searchable on the internet.

iboats_tim any ideas on accessing the online manual?

Welcome aboard Kerry.

1990 will be the rolling torque set up. 4-6 lb-in. The 80 lb-ft is for the earlier drives that have a different drive gear and a small spacer in the centre between the bearings.

Btw. No need the even pull the shaft from the housing to replace uni joints, they can be done fully assembled.
