I have a 2005 Alpha 1 Gen. ll with lower unit fluid leaking from the two vent holes just above the cavitation plate, (first outdrive I have owned that have these holes). The holes are about 5/16 dia. toward the leading edge of the outdrive. I am told they help the water drain out of the drive when taken out of the water, also told it is the gasket or seal under the impeller. I replaced the impeller, housing, plate, gaskets and seals, oil leak came back in less than twenty hours It leaks slow but it leaks a spot about two inches in dia. over night. When I disassembled the impeller parts there was no pooling of fluid under the impeller plate, the only pooling of fluid was in the area in front of the impeller housing, small pocket in casting of lower unit inside the area of the holes. The leaking lower unit fluid that is leaking is "fresh", not milky, neither is the fluid in the lower gear case.
