Mercruiser 8.1s 2005 Intermittently doesn't start

I have a SeaRay 340 with dual 8.1S mercs. recently the starboard engine wouldn't start with multiple attempts over a couple of hours. Then the next day it started. The fuel filter was recently changed and the engines runs well. It appears all the electrical connections are good. The fuel tanks were above 3/4 full. All gauge indications temp, oil pressure are good. Any ideas would be appreciated. I just don't trust the engine now and am hesitant to travel any distance.

Lets start with an engine serial number?
Does it try to start and doesn't, or just crank and no hit at all, or starts and dies?
Do you get any beeps when turning the key or trying to start?
Do you hear the fuel pump run when key is turned to ON?
How long have you had the boat?
