Mercruiser 5.7L Serpentine Belt Broke Alpha one gen 2 outdrive leaking oil

I was on my back to the dock last night my belt broke. I went slow temp gauge was bouncing but never appeared to overheat. Today pulled the boat leaking gear oil from the outdrive and it smell burnt. How much damage did I do?

Sounds like 2 separate issues . . . Alpha drive ??? the sea water pump would have continued to bring water up into the engine, which is why you saw the temp bouncing around.

Best to replace the belt and go after the outdrive oil leak.

Agree with Ted. Nothing about breaking a belt should have any effect on the Gen2 Alpha1 drive.
