I have 1994 Mercruiser 5.7 with a 4 bl carburetor. On a hot day when I have been running a while, when I slow to an idle the engine will die (it only happens when idling) and will not start until it cools (anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours). I have tried starting with the throttle wide open, no luck. There was one occasion when it started while pumping the throttle. The carburetor does not look flooded. It is getting fire. I've tried wet rags on the fuel pump, no help. Two new fuel filters, no help (gas looks OK). Any ideas?

You may have more luck on the inboard / stern drive site but I'll take a stab here. What grade fuel are you running?

Good luck!
