We rebuild Mercruiser 5.0L v8 and now we are trying to put it back in. We also removed the outdrive. We originaly thought about using exactly the same settings of the engine mount to put both the motor and the outdrive in. However I have doubts about installing the engine and the outdrive without proper alignment. The question what should we do to align the motor and the outdrive properly?
Thank you.

The nuts on the engine mount bolts are rusted and do not turn. Should I change the mounts completely or is there any way to remove the nuts and replacing both nuts and bolts without destroying the supports?

Ayuh,.... If you can get it apart with abit of heat, 'n pen-oil, you can clean up the threads on the stud, 'n maybe reuse it,.....

If it don't clean up, replace that 1/2 of the mount,....

If ya can get 'em apart, change the whole mount,...

After the fact but you should have cleaned and loosened then before the install. With the drive removed. support the weight of the motor, remove the 3 bolts holding the mount. Install in vise and use hi heat to loosen it up.Remove the nuts and use a die on the threads to clean them up.
