Hi All,
I have a 5.0L 305 Mercruiser with an Alpha 1 outdrive. (engine serial #L662544). This is on a 2000 Stingray 200LS. Could someone tell me what year the motor is?

I had it on the water today for the first time. The temp was fine on the engine all day but placing my hand on the top of the exhaust manifolds showed something that I thought was rather odd. The starbord manifold was hotter than the port side. Meaning that on the port side it was warm to the touch but on the starbord side it was almost hot enough where you had to remove your hand after about 10 seconds or so. Could this mean that I have some water blockage somewhere?

Thanks,
Scott

How long has it been since your water impeller pump was replaced? Sounds like not enough water pressure or rust clogged manifold and risers.

Ayuh,.... Those temps, Never run equal,...

If ya haven't changed the impeller lately, it might need it...

The impeller was changed about a month ago. I had a dealer overlook the entire engine (over $1k spent) after I bought the boat. This was the first trip out after it was changed.

+1 on the uneven temps. My 5.0 is the same. If it runs good, has a good hole shot, smoothly gets up to proper RPM on WOT, has good water temps, then I am happy as a clam at high tide.:D

My 5.0 MPI is the same way even when it was brand new.

They get hot and starboard side is farther away from water supply so naturally it will be a tad warmer. If you can't hold your hand on risers while running without getting burnt,u got issues.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. It makes me feel better about it since others have seen the same thing with no issues.

Cheers,
Scott
