I currently have my motor out of my boat while I do floor and stringer repairs, and thought it might be a decent time to do some motor upgrades while it’s out. It’s a ‘93 5.0/305 Merc 2bbl. Does anyone have part numbers and/or links for the parts needed to upgrade to vortec heads (ideally with valves and springs), a 4bbl carb, and intake manifold (any anything else that would be needed for the swap)? TIA

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... You'll can save big dollars by sellin' yer motor, as a runner, 'n buyin' a post-96 boat with a 350 4bbl carb,.....
'n a rotten transom,.....

Strip it, keep what ya want, 'n sell the rest,..... ya could end up dollars ahead,.....

im with bondo im always amazed what decent used running engines sell for.
another option get a 96 and up 5.7 from a truck out of a wrecking yard . Change core plugs to brass or stainless, marine head gaskets, freshen up rings and bearings if needed.
strip your 305 accessories put them on 5.7 you will go from about 200 hp to 290…

for intake go to ,Michigan motorz they have 4 bbl vortec marine intakes and get a edlebrock 1409 carb , use merc 805359T throttle bracket for a nice clean installation.

if you decide on vortec heads for the 305 you can find them at Michigan motorz or a gm performance dealer. Dont have part numbers but if you google vortec 305 heads they will pop up
