I'm draining my merc 4.3 I/o. How many drain plugs are there? I found 5.

Get a service manual. Better yet take it to a Mercruiser dealer and have the walk you through the draining process. There is NO one that can say you have 4 or 5 or 6, you may have more. Depends on the year and what options you have on the engine. All Merc 4.3's are not the same.

I have seven on my '01. <br /><br />Look in all these places:<br /><br />Block on both sides<br />Risers on both sides<br />lower water pump hose (starboard side)<br />power steering cooler (port side)<br />fuel cooler (very low port side)
