Hi,

I just bought a used MCM 4.3 MPI 2010 with Alpha one drive. It has very low hours and it seems to be in top condition.

The motor is still on a pallet and I'm trying to figure out all electrical connectors etc. where they need to go. Does this one have a cam pos sender in use in the distributor cap or is that going to be an empty (not connected) 3-pin connector? Someone told me Merc started to use this sender in approx 2005-2006 but did that happen for all motors or did they start later on 4.3 MPI's?

Another connector I do not know yet where it's going to go. Close to the distributor from the engine harness there comes out a 2-pin connector with wires blue with yellow stripe and a yellow with white stripe... Can't find anywhere to plug this one...

Could someone give me a hint what to look for?

Would look to get a wiring diagram for it. I may have one electronically will look this evening.

It is not uncommon for fins some unused connections in your harness. I had an extra ground or two that had never been terminated.

does the connector next to the distributor in first pic fit the distributor- that one looks obvious.

The MPI uses the cam sensor I think on front timing cover (or at least that's where it is on 5.0/5.7). Normally the crab cap dist is only there to sling hi volts to spark plugs.

Unable to find those color wires in manual 32 and expect there is a revised manual for yours.

The connector of the distributor is not used

With no obvious info in an engine manual I'm gonna WAG its a digital sender connection for smartcraft. Normally there is a tag on the wiring near the connector, but not always and it may have fallen off

May need a smartcraft manual to determine exactly what it's for. If the boat isn't equipped with one or more smart guages, no worries

Even if you have smartcraft not every sensor/sender is always used
