Mercruiser 3.0L and 3.0LX power rating??

Hi All,<br /><br />What is the difference between the two engines w/ the same size,<br />but have difference power (120 vs 135 hp)? The LX allows the RPM <br />range to be higher. Is that where the extra power comming??<br /><br />thanks,<br />BeachCraft

beachcraft, the LX has a different cylinder head...a slight increase in compression and different porting....
