We can't figure out how the bracket matches up to the top cover within which is the flame arrestor. No orientation puts the rubber bumper into what looks like the support hole.
Twin 350 V8 engines in a 28 Tiara Pursuit mid 80's model boat.
The angled bracket is bolted on to the throttle cable bracket which is also the 2 rear bolts holding on the Quadrajet carb.

Few pictures of the thing. Which also has 2 rubber crankcase vent hoses that fit into the side.
Anyone seen and know how this is supposed to be mounted?

looks like fits in here? but no way for it then bolt on the carbs rear mounting bolts
Which way is this cover supposed to face?

I am assuming this came with these engines, but who knows what a PO did.

The way it currently sits, the snorkel faces towards bow. The valve covers have short rubber tubes that run into the side holes, so if it was flipped so the snorkel faced aft, the hoses would not fit, AFAIK, might then need new ones. On the valve cover, one hose is aft, and other bow, to turn this around, you might be able to flip the valve covers. The oil fill on the valve cover is on starboard side facing the bow. Engine belts face the bow, and it has the straight thru velevet drive. Starter is top mount facing aft. Manifolds are the improved type with the cast in external water passage

I also think the words normally face so that standing in front of engine like where the belts are, you can read the words? Which is how it sits now.

That puts snorkel end facing bow and starboard.

Spent time on this engine today solving a quadrajet carb that refused to stop flooding, the float was jambing against the tower, had to spread the arms wider, not it is solved. What a pain. It also has a jambing accelerator pump, it sticks in the down position. We put in a new one it still stocks, return spring is fine. I think the bore has to be sanded to not hold the rubber skirt so tight.

The flame arrester top was facing the wrong way. Slipmate had installed it wrong as had the prior owner. The bracket lines up fine when the cover is turned 180 degrees. It is not my boat. Bracket arm mounts at rear of carb mounting bolt.
