Mercruiser 220HP

I have been told I need a new Damper on a 1997 Sea Ray 240 with 220 hp mercruiser stern drive. The parts are quoted around $200 but the labor is quoted at $700.00. The engine needs to be lifted and a new damper part installed. Does this sound correct?

I think you are talking coupler? 700.00 labor that is 9.3 hr at 75.00 a hr preaty stiff here in mi but some guys are getting it. this place must be a great dealer if not run away research the area, talk to the boaters at the docks they might know a good guy not wanting to be a lottery winner.

No, the motor can be pulled straight up. Two removeable hatches and shazaam. I have a independent that has given me a fair price for the labor. I appareciate your assitance.
