Hello, i have just tanken out my starter engine after failing to start the motor, and it seems quite worn down.
Plastic melted?
A lot of corrotion?

What do you make of the images?

I will try to clean it up and see, but a bit worried..

Secondly i have been all over the internet trying to identify spares, but i am not able to find the correct model. Does anyone know where replacement may be found? Engine SN is 88232276(X)

Thanks!

I would put it back together and use it as core for another one

For what Merc whats for a new one($750) I myself would carry it to a starter rebuilder have fixed or search some web pages that carry Cummins starters and match it up.
