Recently I had the motor rebuilt with a little larger cam. My WOT rpms are about 300 higher than the prop out value merc recomends. The boat is a little faster. Will it hurt running the 302 at 4800 rpm or hurt the outdrive?

Welcome to iboats. :) <br /><br />Have you considered backing-off the throttle? It's not carved in granite that you always have to run it balls-to-the-wall. ;)

You have a more powerful engine, so you need a different prop...... That is exactly as it should be. Get the proper prop or you won't be gaining anything by upgrading your engine.
