I need a used engine, but I am finding that this is an increasingly harder task to find one. It is a 1986 model 170/170 hp, so a model 470 would work and a 4.3 liter v-6 will all bolt right in with minor modifications, does anyone know where I can find one, I don't want to have to spend more than $2,000 to rebuild this motor especially because what I have found out is that my model motor has a horribly bad lower end that goes bad often.<br />Thanks Tony

I dont know about used engines, but rapid o marine sells rebuilt engines. and most on this forum that have used them have no complaints. You might find a used 4.3 from junk yard. Make sure you change over to all marine core plugs, electrical, carb, fuel pump, starter,alt,etc.

It should be easy to find a used 3.7L 4 cyl, completely rebuilt units sell for about $2500.
