My 165 has a 4BRL and we were smelling fuel. I took off spark arrester and when cranking over to start motor the fuel was shooting out of the hole in center of carb. Water Seperators and fuel pump are new. I believe float is stuck. Question is: When I pulled carb off to have it rebuilt I have a bit of water sitting in the manifold. How did it get there? I soaked it up with rags. Can I just pull plugs next and crank it to get water out of cylinders if there is any in them at all?

How can I find out what year my motors are?

Does it smell really rich from the exhaust? Black smoke?
Common rich condition from the carb.
Usually a rebuild cures the problem.

Water in the intake manifold? Thats another issue.

No the smell was coming from the motoor compartment. I opened the hatch and pulled of spark arrester and the carb was covered in fuel. When I cranked it over fuel was coming out center hole in carb. It was like an overflow hole. Carbs are in being rebuilt as we speak. Also ho can I find out if I am only getting 5 to 7 psi of pressure to carb? (how to check)

When I pulled carb off it was just sitting in plain sight. Laying right on base of manifold.
