mercruiser 165 points??

Hey there,
Just wondering if you can interchange points from auto to boats. I mean to say can I get points at the autp store for a 71 mercury straight 6 or are they completley different?? May sound stupid but theres alot of different parts out there that you can use on more than one model/make of car. I was just curious if boats are the same.

Sure, just get them for your distributor.

a tune-up kit which includes points, condenser, and rotor is based on the distributor brand - like prestolite, mallory, etc...

look in the marine store here on iboats and click on mercruiser tune-up kits and look at the chart for your engine/ignition system for the right tune-up kit

Thanks guys!! I was pretty sure but didnt know if the condensor was different at all.
