Mercruiser 165 parts help?

Hi, I have a mercruiser 165, has been stored for several years. I'm going to bring it back this year, so I want to order some parts. Problem I'm finding most parts lists start at 1983 or newer. My serial # is 3700380 which comes back 1973 I believe. I know this is original as it is a one owner. I will need to change all bellows as they were leaking when last used and are original. Are these kits universal, any recommendations on brand?

Scroll down to sterndrive parts for the bellows kits.

On the older ones, you may have to order the parts separate, they may not have a kit.

Thanks Don.. so what drive do I have? R MR MC1 ? A lot of interchangable parts are listed by outdrive type.

You have a MC1 drive. The best thing to do, is find a site where you can look up your parts by serial number. Once you get the OEM number you can find aftermarket parts. Mercruiser doesn't go by year, that's an aftermarket idea, and the year of the boat may not be the year of the engine and drive.

Thanks, i'll try that. I know my boat is a 72, but according to the serial # my drive is a 73. Maybe a late year production.

fwiw, i likem bam. ya search parts by sn range.. then if ya wanna get some aftermarket parts, ya know what the oem part number is to compare to aftermarket.. there's others too. dougrussel.com also comes to mind..
