I rebuilt the floor on the old Gulfstream. Its all done with new carpet. I removed the shifter up front--pulled it away with the mount--and re-carpeted that area. Its all back.
OK today at the lake for the first time, I had a hell of a time getting it into gear. Finally it went. Then I could not get it back out. I removed the knob and pulled the handled out--it finally went out of gear so I could rev the motor.
It would go from forward to neutral to reverse ok. Just not go where I could rev the motor without it being in gear.
ALso, the shifter now points way down. Almost to the floor. Neutral is now a bit forward and reverse it straight up.
So--can I just loosen that allen bolt then relocate my handle? It felt different today. At the dock it went from reverse to forward pretty fast. I had a heck of a time finding neutral.
Did I get the adjustments out of whack by moving this handle and re-carpeting it?
