I posted a post no to long ago regarding a bog i had when accelerating to full throttle. Everything has been checked (ignition is new and setup properly, fuel pump checked, fuel pickup cleaned) except the carb which i have a kit all ready to go. I was going to rebuild the carb but i am not sure now. I filled my boat from a Shell gas station (92 octane). The boat ran awesome with no bogging what so ever. I filled one more gerry can with the same gas and still no bogs. A friend filled a gerry can with Esso gas (92 octane) and the minute i pulled away form the dock the bog returned. I then tried some more 92 octane from another station and i still have the bog. Now, is it my accelerator pump working every once in a while or is it the gas ? If it is the gas then is it water in the fuel or something else ? Any ideas, this problem is a real pain, especially when i am trying to pull a skier.

Accelerator pumps are notorious for going bad in those motors.

When you accelerate it is easy to "bog" a 140 by over-running the accelerator pump. You could be slamming too fast on the throttle too.

Try adjusting the way you drive first then is that fails consider the accelerator pump.

There really is no need for high octane gas in that motor. Regular gas should run fine and save you $$$ too.

Bob
