I've got an acceleration problem with my 140. It works fine when I first get the the lake (and also in the driveway) but after about 15 minutes of running it idles poorly and when accelerating slowly or quickly the engine stalls. If you can get it over 2000 rpm without stalling it runs fine. I have changed plugs, points, both fuel filters, and checked the timing.

When I rebuilt the carb I just replaced the gaskets, the needle valve, and cleaned everything out. After reading the other posts on this it appears as if I might need to replace the accelerator pump.

I've got three questions,

1. What might this problem be? (pump or something else I overlooked)

2. What engine/Carb do I tell the guy at the autoparts place I have so that he can get me parts without having to go to the Merc dealer? My engine is stamped GM, so there's some GM model I could probably use. I'd like to get some carb parts there tomorrow and the Merc dealer isn't open on Saturday and is 40 minute drive from home. I've got numerous Aadvance auto and NAPA's to choose from close.

3. What is the adjustment proceedure for the idle speed and the idle mixture. I'm pretty sure I've got these screwed up trying to solve the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help....
