mercruiser 140 mando alternator 4wire

i took my boat to a so called mechanic. long story short i got a phone call on day that i was gonna get an abandoned summons if i didnt get my boat.. he packed up and left..

i pick up my boat and the wiring is more like a bowl of pasta.. i need help just getting some wires back to there right place..

the alternator there 4 wires. RED ORANGE PURPLE BLACK

can someone please help.

I have manuals with the wiring diagrams, just need to figure out which one.

its a 1985 mercruiser 140 3.0

You have a newer alternator than what your engine came with, so I marked your picture as to what wires go where.
Since your boat is an 85, your engine could be either an 85 or easily an 84. Two different manuals. Do you have a serial number for your engine?

i found a serial number i think you asked for its A384880 on the enging..
