Recently i have purchased my first project boat and found that the lower outdrive housing is busted on the rudder fin (may not be what its called) Anyway it is at the very bottom of the assembly and has not hurt anything else that i can tell by looking at it. First question is 1: Where can i find just the housing inexpensively (used is fine). I have looked and the best deal i can come up with is $536.00 for just housing. 2: Is there a good chance that with this being broken (and prop roughed up pretty good) that more damage is likely inside? 3: is there a way to fix this without replacing housing? I have done on cars for plastic pieces using aluminum reinforced molded plastic with anchors into both pieces. Does this sound feasible?

Do an internet search for something called a skeggard or check what it looks like here http://www.bartswatersports.com/catalog.asp?P=664 It's a do-it-yourself job. Other alternative is to take it to a shop and have a new one welded on, also about a $100 proposition.

bowhuntr

Prop shops can weld a new skeg on for you pretty cheap.
