Mercruiser 140/190 compatable parts with Mercruiser I?

I have Mercruiser I outdrive on my 1978 898 unit. The drive has a small crack in the lower unit. I have access to a Mercruiser drive labelled 140/190 that looks to be in good condition. The 140/190 has the oil fill hole on the other side, other than that it looks to be identical from the outside. My main question is is there a possiblity that the lower unit casing is identical and I can replace the guts from mine into this lower unit? Are any other parts interchangeable? What drive is the 140/190? Is it a merc I?<br /><br />Thanks

I'll go out on a limb,+ say it'll Probably Fit...........<br /><br />A 140hp,+ a 190hp wouldn't be geared the same as outdrives..........<br />But, the ratio changes in the Upper,... So the lower units Should Interchange...........

Thanks, I think I am wrong on the numbers tho. I can't find any ref to a 140/190 drive, so I assume it was 120/140 and I just wasn't looking close enough.
