Mercruiser 120 Rotation

I recently purchased a 74 Wellcraft Nova with twin 120HP Mercruisers. The person I purchased it from stated that both engines rotate clockwise and that according to Wellcraft it is the correct factory setup. Is this true? Also how can I determine the year model of the engines and ODs.<br />

Need serial numbers to tell you the year. But they did make the 120 then. It should also for that year model have Mercrusier I outdrives. If you are not sure e-mail me and I will send you the data to show you how to find which outdrive you have..Trentcr@hotmail.com

rbarnes,if the engines and drives are the original,the engines turn counter clockwise as viewed from behind the boat.and the props turn clockwise in forward gear. number one drives did not counter rotate. counterrotation came about in the mid 80's with the alpha drive.all mercruiser sterndrive engines turn counter as viewed from behind , it is the drive that determines rotation of the prop
