Dear friends, My Mercruiser 120 (2.5L) engine can not be started. There is only the sound of click. Can you help me solve the issue? I guess that the water damaged the starter.

After one whole day fishing in the water a week ago, I pulled my boat to the shore and found there was some water on the floor. So I immediately drained the water out. But it was too late, today I can not start my engine and there was only click. I guess that the starter was submerged in the water and has been damaged.

Can any other parts be damaged by water? Is my motor engine worthy to be repaired?

Thank you.

alternator can be damaged depending on how high it's mounted on the engine, if it stayed dry its most likely okay

water can enter the crankcase through the rear main seal, check the oil for over full and water contamination especially if the engine was run with that much water in the bilge

sounds like your starter is junk, there is a great tutorial on how the starter system works and how to trouble shoot it in the stickies at the top of the thread page
