Wanting to crank engine for up to 30 seconds over a couple of minutes to get
dwell dialed in. There is no fuel in the system. Oil in the pan and have run the oil pump to get oil circulated.

Will doing this with a dry fuel pump likely to cause damage to it?

As always all help and comments are appreciated.

Not typically. There is a rubber diaphragm inside the OE fuel pump. They start out dry in every new application. If your FP is old... wet or dry there will be a leak detected if there is a tear in the rubber. Most likely it won't pump at all if the fuel system is dry.

Fuel pump diaphragm is fresh, never had fuel in it....just wasn't ready to put fuel in and have it set over the winter, as really won't be ready to RUN until spring now....and didn't want to damage/ruin the fresh fuel pump rebuild....

Ayuh,... I really Doubt there's any damage....
The workin's are lubed on the oil side,...
There's No lubricity in gasoline anyways...

thanks Bondo and backyard mechanic.....

I really didn't see any damage resulting from such a short usage but hadn't fooled with one of these pumps since about 1979 and wanted some other ideas besides my own........
