I'm trying to replace a prop on a 3.0L Mercruiser with an Alpha 2 leg with one that came with the boat. Identical props but one has had very little use and is in good shape. How do I remove the hub in the current prop? I assume they are made to be changed.

It looks to me like.
Prop 2 is a newer style than prop 3.
Prop 2 uses a removable hub.
Prop 3 is non removable.
I'm guessing you're trying to replace prop 3 with prop 2?
If that's the case, you need the hub for prop 2.

Normally the hub is not made to be removed from one and installed in another. Need another hub

Thanks. What should I look for in terms of a Hub Kit for Prop 2?

It's probably a Flo-Torq II but they also have Flo-Torq III, IV and Reflex.
I'm not sure if they're interchangeable. I only have the II's.
If you take the prop to a dealer they can match it up.

Hi. If you buy a merc prop, it will usually come with a hub kit. Those props don’t look like merc props to me. If you get a black max (great props) it should come with. Generally not great practice to read use huns from one prop to another. Although I have done this myself, when swapping props frequently, like I often do.

If you can figure out the brand of prop #2, you can look up the hub for your outdrive, on their web site. You might verify that the prop is made for your motor as well. A prop model number can probaly tell you which brand it is. Common prop makers are Quicksilver, Michigan Wheel, Solas, Turning point and others.
