I'm looking for a mercontrol that pushes out when in forward and pulls in reverse. Pretty much the opposite of normal control boxes. Anyone know where i should be looking?

Re: Mercontrol

Are these really uncommon? Or is it possible to modify a regular one to shift opposite?

OK, I've got to ask. What is it for? Most any Merc will work opposite what you are looking for.

Man, I had one of those 60's vintage MercControllers hanging around here for a couple years and finally tossed it earlier this summer. It probably would have worked for you.

There is a good repair shop on Riveredge Dr called Coves of Keswick. He works on a lot of older motors and may know of what you are looking for. Worth a call or visit.

Re: Mercontrol

Hello, I just greased and reassembled my mercontrol unit, it works great now. I really appreciate the info I have found here! One question though, what is the knob on the front of the control unit? When I took it apart it appeard to be electrical. When I turn it either way w/the engine running it has no effect on anything. What is it supposed to do??[/I]

That "knob" is not. It is the tach harness electrical connector. You should not be twisting it
