1997, regal lsr 2100
5.7 260 hp mercruiser/ alpha 1

after rebuilding and double checking all settings my mercarb it runs great and starts up nice when cold and has great w.o.t. Problem is when we are on the hook and the lake is rough due to wind or boat traffic (lots of waves) the carb leaks fuel into the engine and floods it. It will do it only when sitting in rough water. its lke the needle and seat cant keep the fuel level from sloshing and then dripping into the engine. I used the spring loaded needle and seat that came in the kit but was wondering if anyone has a fix for this besides putting a diffrent carb or fuel injection and getting rid of the mercarb p.o.s.

CJ, by checking settings, did you check the float drop and float level also. sounds like your float is too high letting too much gas into the chamber. and could your float be heavy if a composite mat'l or have a crack or hole in it. my brass float just developed a hole in it for no apparent reason and let gas gush into the carb.

i did double check the float drop settings twice.
and they are set right. I will double check the float for a leak and go from there. I can always put a msd box on it to burn that excess gas.lol
