Merc trim & tilt release

On my 75 Merc I need to work on the tilt motor, but the manual release screw is all chewed up and I can"t turn it out. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to raise the engine or replace the screw.

DonC, may have to center drill shallowest hole possible if you can get drill access and easyout the little vermin.Mine looks bugered up on my 95 rude and I've never touched it.Dealer or factory must have overkilled the tightening of these valves.Seems Rickdb posted same problem recently on 91 70 rude.Hope I'm not posting one in near future.I don't understand why these valve screws aren't allen or hex head.Oh well
