Hi everyone!

I did my googling but couldn't find what im after. I have a bravo 2 leg on my old 26ft command bridge with a 1995 merc 7.4L and I own a spare prop. One of my props looks to be almost flatter and larger and apparently thats a TR or a TRS prop, and my other prop looks more like a "traditional" outboard prop (but alot larger) its taller and curvier.... if u follow me,-assuming thats thats Bravo 2 prop. Im curious if someone can give me some comparisons between the two props. I can post pictures if i need to. Lets assume there both the same pitch, whats the advantages or disadvantages of the bravo 2 and TR/TRS props?

Here's a picture of the two props. The painted cleaner prop measures 18 inches in diameter. And the older looking prop measures 19. Note the differences in the blade shapes. Also note the added depth down to the Hub with the 'clean' 18inch prop. Which prop excels at what? I'm trying to figure out which to run. Is one a bravo 2 and the other a tr prop? Also, the -is it a anti cavitation ring? pressed on to the end of the older looking prop, compared to the much longer (built into the prop) something that could effect performance? I'm curious what the difference in the lengths of these rings do to a prop? Thanks for all and any help everyone!! Alan

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... What is the stamped Pitch of these props,..??..??

Ya can't be makin' false Assumptions, as Pitch plays a Major role in blade design, diameter, 'n other parameters of prop design,....

Generally speakin',....
As Pitch goes down, diameter, 'n blade area goes up,.....

The flair flange differences come from changes in castin' techniques, or different manufacturers usin' different castin' techniques,.....

Are they both Aluminum,..??

Hey Bondo, Thanks for the help!

-I have a decent idea of what the different pitches will do to my boats performance, my question was geared more towards the two different style props i have. They appear to be fairly different in design. I didn't think that was just because they could be different pitches?

-I understand the flange differences come from different castin' technique or what not, but my questions where regarding what the two different styles excell at? Im trying to learn about probs here.... maybe I should consult an expert?

again, Thanks for the help!

Heres two pictures. First one is the nicely painted prop. Second pic is of the "older" looking prop.

Ayuh,... Yer top picture looks like a Mercruiser number, 'n a 17" pitch prop,....

The lower picture, I'm guessin' is a Michigan Wheel,....
You'll need to look up that Part Number, to find the pitch, unless it's stamped somewhere else on the prop,...

They both look to be elephant ear props, by Different Manufacturers,.....
