guys the tilt and trim on my merc.79 model is not working good. the down works but the up does not. i can jump a wire from the postive to the small screw under the 12 volt nut and i can hear solenoid kick in but the motor does not come up. i cannot move the motor up manually either.. it goes so far up and it stops. i have turned the knurled knob on the pump motor but that does nothing. what is going on. i have to get the motor up.. thanks alot

silly questions but did you check the fluid?

when you hit the up switch or jump the solenoid does the t/t motor run or does the solenoid just click?

Charlie, The knurled knob will release the hydraulic pressure to allow you to tilt the motor by hand. It will not be easy to tilt however.

The pump motor has two windings with a common ground. If the motor runs one way, and not the other (bypass the solenoid with a jumper cable), the up winding may be open or faulty.
