Merc throttle cable travel direction.(PICTURES ADDED)

I'm getting ready to install the TailGunner Whooper (Holley 4bbl) on my Beachcraft 302. Today, I was just examining the circumstances and noticed the the throttle cable pushes forward, on the top of the little two bbl throttle shaft bracket. This set up keeps the cable mounted high and out of the path of the two coolant hoses that run along the top of the valve cover, back to the rear of the exhaust mani and risor.

The Holley throttle shaft rotates (opens) in the opposite direction. This means that I would have to hook my throttle cable up to the lower side of the Holley throttle shaft bracket to push it forward to open. This puts the cable and rotating attachment right down amongst the coolant hoses.

My question is, can the direction of the throw of the cable be reversed in the throttle control box?

Usually yes, but it depends on your control box.

Got a picture of your control you could post?

I'll get it this week and post it in this thread. All I can remember about it is that it has the throttle/shift lever and a knob that you pull out to keep it in neutral. Other than that, I don't recall whether it is surface mounted or behind the sidewall. I'll check and get a pic. Thanks

The teleflex I installed could be set to go either way

He doesn't want to know if yours will change, he wants to know if what he has will.
Some do, some don't

Here are the pictures, the best that I could get without pulling the assembly out from behind the side panel. I was looking at them upside down, just aiming the camera up where I could not get my nose.

I've never seen one like that before, and it's not a Merc or Quicksilver control.
There may be a way to change it around, but it would have to come apart and the arms moved to the other side or something. Hard to say from your pics.

Yeah, I figured that would be the story, at least the picture part. One of these warmer Saturdays, I will venture on a new career and figger out how to dismount the assembly from the panel and get it out into the light. Once done, it's capabilities would probably become apparent.

That Looks to be an old Morse Shifter,........

I believe, that if you disassemble it Far Enough,......
It Is reverseable..........

You might want to check the wires in that harness while your in there. It looks like the linkage has been givin it ell.:%

Sharp eye Real Poor. I noticed that as well. I will get get it all better organized when I pull the shifter out to see if it is reversable.

I will also check for any exposed wires.
