merc tach problem

i have a problem with the tach on a 125 merc, it comes and goes with the movement of some cables at the engine, since the last time i move them it hasn't work anymore.it seems something is not sending a right signal. i would like to knwon from which part of the engine the tach works.

Try wiggling the wiring harness plug where it enters the engine. <br />>What year? <br />>Tach's get their signal from either the ignition system or the charging system. I believe merc did it both ways pending on vintage.

Find your powerpac (CDI) Look for the gray wire..Thats the wire that goes to your tach. Make sure it has a good connection; and also check power and ground at the tach.
