how do i line up the pin when reinstaling lower unit? merc outdrive 260 hp .....1980

Trying to think of what pin your talking about?? Is it in this picture? Their is only a few items it can be. Make sure the quad seal is in place on the starboard side of the lower unit before installing lower unit.<br /><br />

Hey, trent thanks for repling...yeah i was a little vague. i was having prolems with the shifting dog that lines up with the splines that goes into the shifting unit in the upper unit...as it was rebuilt ...the rebuilder forgot to place the rubber shim on the shifting pin in the lower unit....the tranny shifted but the spline would drop out of contact with the upper unit shifting mech..so after i would shift once and the boat stayed in gear all the time ...unless i restarted it...which would snap the tranny back into neutral ....i took the lower unit back off (12x) before i figured it out...i placed a piece of rubber inbetween the shifting dog and the spline that slips into the upper shifting mech and now it works great....thanks for the help!!!
