I have recently bought a boat. when I made the purchase I was told the boat came with a 1995 mercury 135hp 2.0 motor. After getting the boat home and snooping around a bit I have noticed that some badging on the motor indicates that the motor is a mercury xri 2.4 liter. I can't find much info on this motor, the transom tag is for a 135 HP but the motor is obviously different. where can I look on the motor itself to find out the HP rating and year of my motor. Any help would be great. I wouldn't think I would have so much trouble figuring out this problem. Is the serial number somewhere on the motor?

I was able to find a serial number, Can someone please look up my serial number. It's B19943. Thanks.

There should be a serial number on a plug on the block. Post it on this forum, and some of the folks should be able to tell year and HP.

He's talkin' 'bout tha welsh plug on TOP of tha motor behind tha flywheel cover. It looks like a freeze plug. If no number there then ya gonna need ta put up some pictures and track down some other parts and their numbers. Cowlin' stuff sometimes don't mean anything..........

I found it. It's B19943
Hi there, welcome to iboats!:) Your serial number is missing one number. Also in some cases when looking up the serial numbers on some websites, you will need to add an 0 before the B*******.

With me (guessing) adding a number to the end of your number, it's coming up as an MERCURY 2.0L 150 H.P - ELPTO (V-6) (1986) Serial No: 0B199437 Model No: 1150726 Parts Catalog No: 90-13752
