Problem:
A friends 1999 Merc 125 O.B. ran fine all morning. In the afternoon, no deal. It wont even kick. Plugs are new, wiring/fuses to coils look good.
Carbs are getting fuel. Safety lanyard switch is hooked up.

Symptoms:
-Excess fuel accumulates in air box/ fuel seems to leak from all four carbs into air box.
-Carb butterflies don't seem to open automatically.
-Engine cranks but doesn't fire at all.

Can spark be lost to all four cylinders at once. The engine has four coils, do they share a common element?

Help!

Hedjug

Pull the plugs and check the spark, if no spark then you have to find out where. Carb throttle butterflies aren't supposed to open automatically, they are connected to the throttle. Are you referring to choke butterflies? Squirt some premix into the carb throats and see if it will fire. If it does, your problem is fuel and you need to find out where.
