Merc oil change pump

I bought the Merc oil change pump that screws on the dipstick. How much oil should I expect to remove from my 5.0 MPI? I have a hard time believing it will empty the entire pan.

Believe it.
I didn't, and checked it by pulling the drain plug out of the bottom of the pan. Not a drop came out.

Yeah, the pan was dry. I took out 5 quarts and put 5 back in. I was shocked that it worked.
