Hey all, I am confused about this color of the oil. i mixed a little bit of water and oil and colors matched a little. I
pressure tested my LU in tub and it is holding well at 40 psi. Looks like a get a bubble every 6-8 seconds from #20 and #26 but like i said pressure is still holding. I am using Pennzoil marine gear lube. Should i use something else or is this normal??WP_20140415_17_53_12_Pro.jpgWP_20140415_17_51_03_Pro.jpgWP_20140415_17_51_26_Pro.jpgWP_20140415_17_51_52_Pro.jpgpic.JPG

You need to pressure test it at 15psi and vaccum test it at 15psi.

Pour it in a clear container. If it has water, it will float to the bottom. Lower unit gear oil and water do not stay mixed.

i poured it into a clear ziplock and did not see any separation in liquid

You are pressure testing it without oil in it right?

weimed. Good move on the merc lube. make sure that there is NO OLD VENT/FILL gasket material stuck to the lower end Hole housing. Use a pick or small screwdriver to clean. Use New gasket/washer when you refill lower. Run for awhile and check lower end for water again. Seen this a lot with stuck washer on housing..02

That's another thing.
Do you always replace the gaskets on all your drain/fill/vent plugs every oil change?

I installed a new impeller kit

I was advised to run it in the water for a full day then check again. Soon as i do i will report results. Thank you everyone
