All,

I found a loose wire that is part of the harness. It is with the set of wires that connect in and around the 50A circuit breaker. This is a 1994 Mercruiser 5.0LX with Thunderbolt IV ignition system.

I am almost certain that it is a ground wire. However, I don't know why it is disconnected. It looks like it has never been connected. I can connect it, but would like to know what is going on with it being loose.

Please take a look at these and give me some ideas.

Thanks.

Mercathodes were sometimes mounted above the slave/circuit breaker locations. May have been for that .The electric chokes used a ring type connector for the neg.lead.

Wire harnesses are factory assembled with provisions for optional bits. If you don't order ALL the options, there will sometimes be some redundant connections. Cars do it also.
