Merc, ignition spendy

Hi. <br />I've been pouring over previous posts, trigger. stator, switch box ect... Well i have a merc 50 hp,<br />elec, about 1978 ser#480---. My prob is no spark on cyl 3&4. I had a very corroded rotten wire (white and black)coming off the trigger. I replaced that with a new trigger and still no spark. I do have some goo coming off stator. Could broken trigger wire fry switch box? Any help would be great! thanks

Probebly stator, could be switchbox, check the resistances on red and blue wire from the stator and compare with the red/ white, blue/white. If the readings are different then stator, If the readings are the same then switchbox is faulty.

Whaley,<br />Thanks for the info, The stator is about double the ohms from one side to the other. It took me all day to locate a stator and go get it (2.5 hrs one way) tomorrow after work I will install and try it out with muffs on anyway. I now have a new trigger and a new stator. I'm a hoping the sw. box is o.k. The wife was ragging on me that I'm putting way to much time and money in the black beast! But really I want to get to the bottom of this.I'm pretty thick skinned, you have to be sleeping in the doghouse in beautifull Mn. summertime. Skeeters are our state bird don't cha know! I will post the results, good or bad, Thanks again for your time!

Installed stator, same problem,firing on two plugs. I ordered sw.box, will wait and see.......
