Does your setup have the extra switch for trailoring? It sounds like you might have a bad trim switch?

Does the trim make a gurgling noise, check out the oil level. It sounds like the unit could be low.<br />Ross

You may have a bad trim motor. I had my tilt motor on my brand new Mercury go up after about a month. It would work intermittently....tapping on it would help make it work...I had it replaced, fortunately, it was under warranty.

Sparky, Had the same problem, I took it apart and cleaned, lubed, and wire brushed the brushes and it ran nice and quiet for about 6 months than it went completley dead, at the boat ramp trying to pull out of course.I ended up having to undo a hydrulic line to get it to release up. A new replacement was very expensive, I ended up bringing it to an auto electric shop and they rebuilt it for $60 bucks. It has been fine since, and I have sold the motor and I advise you to do the same. You have a lot of trouble comming your way. Wish good luck on you. Paul
